Elegant table de salon in rosewood marquetry and beautiful chased bronze and gilded with mercury. Very beautiful work of marquetry to the Queen, one of the most refined of the Louis XVI period. Ours represents a trellis in trompe l'oeil, the rhombuses decorated with quartefoils. Our side table is topped with a cabaret top also inlaid and opens with a drawer in front. It lends itself well to the use of a side table in a living room or also a very refined bedside. Very elegant Parisian production veneered on oak, our table is not stamped but no doubt the work of a great Parisian cabinetmaker of the early Louis XVI period. We will note particularly the use of bronzes in drapery falls in the corners, a pattern of great elegance used by the greatest cabinetmakers of the Louis XVI period like our cylinder desk by Pierre Macret: https://www.gslr-antiques.com/fr/boutique/meubles/bureau-cylindre-satine-macret.php
Our table is in excellent condition. Very nice colors remained fresh and very contrasted. The marquetry has been well preserved, little worn, little insolated in its history. It has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. The mercury gilding of the bronzes (original) is still very present.
Beautiful piece of furniture of amateur, refined production.
