17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Large ''monoxyle'' panel (''in one piece'') in walnut, carved in low relief, representing St Anne instructing the young Virgin Mary alongside St Joachim, her husband.
This group is part of a graceful movement where veil, hair and drapery seem to fly in the wind. The ''contrapposto'' posture of Ste Anne as well as the eye-catcher of each of the characters, contribute to the rhythm and harmony of the composition.
Above the stage, in the clouds, two winged putti watch over the holy family.
We will notice the care given to details such as the charming hairstyle of Mary, the nervous drapes, and the wavy and deep curls of which St Joachim and the cherubs are wearing.
