The rectangular back with 3 lyre-shaped splats, the arms with scroll terminals on fluted balluster supports, the rectangular padded seat covered in the original leather, on turned tapering legs joined by stretchers with a folding footrest platform, circa 1785.
Stamped G Jacob, master in 1765.
A similar bench by Jacob was supplied to the billiard room of Monsieur at Versailles in 1786 and is illustrated in N. de Reyniès, Le Mobilier Domestique, vol. I, Paris 1987, p. 149.
