Offered by Étienne de Roissart
Louis XVI period marquise attributed to the renowned 18th-century cabinetmaker Georges Jacob (1739–1814). Jacob is celebrated for his exceptional creativity in chair-making and worked for King Louis XVI, earning the favor of Queen Marie Antoinette as well as the King’s brothers. In 1781, Georges Jacob was appointed menuisier ordinaire to Monsieur, the King’s brother, Count of Provence, and future Louis XVIII.
This marquise has been reupholstered by Maison Lachèze (formerly Brazet), which employs the exact same techniques and materials as those used in the 18th century.
The traditional upholstery features animal hair padding, crafted using historical methods. The seat cushion is made of a half-down blend of down and feathers. The covering is a silk-like velvet, with a crest finish along the rebate and a câblée à la Bourgogne finish.
