Angel Gabriel in carved walnut, last quarter of the 15th century

Walnut sculpture, late 15th century, representing the angel Gabriel,
the right hand on the heart, slightly in genuflection. This angel wore very large wings, which have now disappeared.
The hairstyle, with wavy and deep curls as well as the oval and full face of the angel, his restrained and internalized attitude and the draped, fluid, hollowed and horizontal folds are characteristic of this production, that Master Arnt de Kalkar has largely influenced.
