17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Small Regency chest of drawers opening with three drawers and inlaid with rosewood curling.
The uprights, as well as the crosspieces are dark with brass grooves.
It is stamped twice on the two front uprights, under the marble, by the Parisian cabinetmaker Louis Delaitre.
Louis Delaitre (sometimes called “de Laitre” because of the special arrangement of his stamp) was received as Master on November 19, 1738.
Until the 1750s, in his workshop in rue Saint-Nicolas, he produced furniture in the Louis XV style, or even in the full Regency style. He also delivered furniture to several famous merchants among which his conferee Migeon. A Louis XV chest of drawers with two drawers bears their two stamps.
