Baroque country composition of flowers and fruits, Louis XIV period, group in the round in a single lime wood hollowed out, carved and gilded of high quality. A bucolic composition of the most atypical where are gathered flowers and fruits emerging from a basket; where are mixed, bunches of grapes, rosebuds, pears, peonies, figs, tomatoes, tulips and quinces in a leafy universe of the most bucolic. The group probably comes from an architectural element or a woodwork; this one was then mounted on a posterior base for ornamental purposes. Composition inspired by the work of André Le Nôtre, gardener to King Louis XIV from 1645 to 1700, who was in charge of designing the park and gardens of the Château de Versailles. French Baroque work from the XVIIth century.
Very good general condition, some wear of the gilding, it is to be noted that rather than gilding the whole the restorer has applied to stabilize the original. A treatment with boron salt at any time was practiced. Dimensions : The original group: Height 52cm by 52 of width. The base: Height 18cm by 20cm wide. Total height 70cm.
