Chest of drawers in marquetry of rosewood veneered in butterfly wings, in frames of violet wood decorated with rosettes, spindle feet with simulated flutes, richly decorated with chased and gilded bronzes, covered with a thick luxury color breche d'Alep.
Slight central projection, reminiscent of the Transition style: our chest of drawers dates from the early 1780s, before the fashion for mahogany chests of drawers appeared a few years later.
The chest of drawers opens with 3 drawers in the belt and 2 large drawers underneath.
Very elegant, its proportions are perfect, without any fault of taste. It is a beautiful model. Alas no stamp to identify the author.
Our beautiful chest of drawers is in very good condition. The varnish has been redone by our cabinetmaker. Gilded bronzes (some brought back to the 19th century but of good workmanship). Traces of old restorations of use but no accident to report. Marble from Aleppo brought back in the 19th century
