A hard porcelain statuette of Strasbourg, representing a young stonecutter.
This statuette decorated in polychrome of small fire is of a beautiful quality, it is signed Joseph Hannong, in hollow and F for Frankenthal and 3 for the model.
In order to escape the royal edict granting to the Manufacture de Vincennes an exclusivity in the research and manufacture of hard porcelain, the Hannongs settled in Frankenthal in 1755 and produced, well before Sèvres, high quality hard porcelain.
This quality statuette was made between 1755 and 1760.
