A large Chinese porcelain basin made for the Persian market.
It is decorated in fixed white on a dark blue background and in a stylized manner with foliage and flowers.
The blue background is so dark that it appears translucent as opposed to the opaque fixed white.
Translucent blue and fixed white appeared in Nevers around 1630/1640; they were often compared to Persian blues of which they would be a kind of extension.
Good condition, a crack taken
