Baroque marble bust of an angel, Italy, 17th century

Beautiful Baroque marble sculpture of small dimensions, representing a winged angel head, standing on two elegants volutes on both sides. Possibly from Rome, 17th century.

The tenderness and gentleness of the face, whose eyes and mouth are rendered with quality and precision, contrast with the hair, where the volume of the thick curls and the trepan technique contribute to the strength of the head.
The marble, in excellent condition, is displayed on a probably XIXth century custom-made wooden support, bearing an old collection label at the back.
