Cupid with butterfly, marble sculpture - Clément Léopold Steiner (1853 - 1899)

Large white marble sculpture depicting Cupid seated on a stylized fountain with a man's mascaron and quiver at his feet. Cupid is playing with a butterfly on his arm, possibly symbolizing fragile love. This sculpture features an ormolu baguette of laurel leaves wrapped around the base. The sculpture bears the signature Steiner pour Clément Léopold Steiner ( 1853 - 1899 ) on the back. The angel's and butterfly's wingtips and two fingers are missing. Large late 19th century Amour Ange sculpture.
