Important and rare large tobacco jar and its cover, decorated in blue and white with checkered bands and wide friezes of embroidery and ironwork patterns, in Louis XIV taste.

Diameter : 10,8 cm (4 1/4 inches)
Excellent condition ; very minor firing defect to the knop
Both pieces bear the label of collector Jean Bloch (but were not included in his sale on 2nd December 1961)
Provenance : The collection of Monsieur L., sold at auction by Maître Denis Herbette in Doullens (Somme), on 1st October 2006, lot 15
An almost identical example is at the Musée national Adrien Dubouché in Limoges and another (smaller) at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (see photos).
The Saint-Cloud manufactory is one of the few in the 18th century to have marked some pieces twice, under the body and under the cover. This was done only on the finest products.

The objects are on display at our gallery located rue de Beaune in central Paris, where they can be examined and picked up by appointment.
No packing or shipment cost is included in the selling price.
