Superb shepherdess, Return of Egypt style in mahogany and mahogany veneer. The right back is surmounted by a pediment with a winding carved with foliage and palm leaves, the armrests rest on palm-shaped capitals with lotus flowers surmounting the front feet. These receive a fine ornamentation of rings punctuating the column, as well as delicate sculptures of lotus flowers, resting on flattened balls.
Saber-shaped hind feet.
Very beautiful work on mahogany, finesse of the sculpture of the marquee and the uprights, of great delicacy and sobriety.
The carpenter's work here focused on the purity of the line, very structured but also very light, and the development of the exceptional quality of the mahogany from Cuba used, with great flames beauty. If this seat does not have a stamp, the sets of seats are frequently stamped only on a few models, it is certainly the product of a talented master.
Rare example of the first illustrations of the return from Egypt style, late 18th or early 19th century.
Trimmed with a superb new publisher fabric.
