Excellent state of preservation.
This spectacular sunset set in the most fascinating view of the world, is a beautiful work of Gallard-Lepinay
Painting is a concentration of emotions and the viewer is fascinated by an image so beautiful that seems unreal, the result of a fantastic dream that materializes with a vision that is pure poetry.
The author, famous for his many representations of Venice and the lagoon, he is not limited to the simple description of natural beauty, but offers a dreamlike interpretation between reality and fantasy.
The light that radiates this painting is really amazing.
We find a very similar work in a Sothebi's New York auction of 3.6.2010 lot.229 (see photo).
Lepinay became famous for his "Marine" and was named "official painter of the French Navy", a recognition that earned him the presence of his works in several museums in France.
He competed with Felix Ziem in creating beautiful paintings with Venice and its extraordinary views.
The pictorial technique of these two French artists was so similar that they could confuse unsigned paintings.
