Crown of flowers by Henri JEHIN

Henri Jehin (1811-1880)

Painting dated 1865

was a Belgian flower painter, object maker and musician.

He practiced in Spa, a small town in the province of Liège.

His artistic talents and eye for detail were quickly recognized in Belgium, as well as in France and England, where he exhibited his work.

He won a medal in London in 1851, then two more in Paris, in 1855 and 1867 respectively.

Henri Jehin made his own varnish to protect his painted works,
a varnish renowned for its high quality.

An easel painter specializing in Spa wood painting, in 1864 he was awarded the title of “Fournisseur de S.A.R. le duc de Brabant”, which became “Fournisseur de S.M. Léopold II” on February 17, 1866.
