This beautiful rectangular mirror in carved and gilded wood frame was made in the early 19th century in Venetian area of Italy. The richly carved frame is characterized by a shape called "cassetta".
The carvings are particularly elaborate and rich. The perimeter parts are characterized by leaves pattern carvings, inside they show off a high relief carvings with some fruits and leaves patterns. The central part have a fine carving with vine and grape bunches; however, the inner part shows a geometric pattern.
Thanks to the perfectly symmetrical carvings the frame can be hung both vertically and horizontally.
