A sublime Italian pedimented mirror in carved and gilded wood from the late 18th century.
In the center, an intertwined monogram adds a touch of elegance and refinement, likely a mark of an aristocratic commission. It is framed by two charming winged putti in the round, whose graceful posture brings movement and lightness to the ensemble. At the top, a third triumphant cherub holds a basket of flowers, a symbol of abundance and prosperity.
The decoration is enhanced with a profusion of foliage, acanthus, and finely chiseled flowers, testifying to the exceptional craftsmanship of the period's artisans. The original, well-preserved gilding gives this piece a dazzling luminosity and an authentic patina that underlines its antique character.
The glass of this 18th-century Italian mirror, made with mercury, is original and features a magnificent 3 cm wide bevel. Very good overall condition with slight wear to the gilding, consistent with the piece's age.
