Empire desk mahogany armchair. Our armchair is richly covered with a silk gourgouran (Tassinari & Chatel, Fontenay fabric in Tobacco color). End of the Empire period, 1810s. Although not stamped, the excellent quality of construction, finishes are the work of a great seat maker. This is most likely a work of Marcion, which produces seats in the same spirit.
Pierre-Benoit Marcion (1769 - 1840), was with Jacob the main supplier of the Imperial Palaces and dignitaries of the Empire.
For the exceptional restoration work, we were inspired by a quite similar Marcion seat that is exhibited at the Palais de Fontainebleau.
Beautiful amateur model, superior quality; our seat is quite uncommon and unique. Excellent original condition: no accident to the mahogany nor restoration to the wood. Our seat has been perfectly restored as new like it was 200 years ago.
