17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Secretary walnut enhanced with black, attributed to Jean-François Hache, around 1770.
It opens with a flap, a drawer and two doors in the lower part. The previous rounded corners are typical of Jean-François' production. Inside, there are six solid cherry drawers and five lockers of different sizes. A "secret" bait is hidden in the center. The flap is covered with leather. This pretty piece of furniture has feet "pellets", in the front, and feet "silhouettés" in the back.
This secretary is close in its decor and its proportions of a copy reproduced in the reference book of Pierre and François Rouge (The Engineering of the Axes, ed.Faton, p.486)
