Stamped by Christophe Wolff, became a Master in 1755.
Beautiful secretary with flap inlaid with flowers and precious objects. This model has front uprights with cut-off sides, infinitely more appreciated than the very numerous secretaries with round uprights or sharp corners.
On the front, it opens with a flap decorated with a complex marquetry: On a checkerboard parquet floor, a table presents objects on the theme of Liberal Arts and major arts, crowned by a beautiful garland of flowers. In the lower part, the cabinet opens with two leaves, each decorated with covered vases. The cut sides simulate fluted pilasters. Finally, the upper drawer is decorated with a frieze.
Two panels in marquetry of branches and flowers decorate each side.
Inside, six drawers and four compartments surmount the flap, which is trimmed with beautiful red leather back.
The 7 decorative panels of this secretary are presented in multiple frames, of curly rosewood, amaranth in thread, and light wood fillets. The marquetry of the flowers and objects has been made with sycamore veneer, and stained fruit woods. The checkerboard boxes are made of rosewood.
Beautiful neoclassical ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes, and top of grey marble with white veins.
