Beautiful and large half moon or semi circular chest of drawers. rosewood marquetry, ormolu bronzes grey marble, our piece was made at the beginning of the Louis XVI period circa 1780. Stamp of J. Birckle and JME.
Jacques Birckle (1734-1803), master in 1764, is one of the great cabinetmakers of 18th century. He was one of the Crown suppliers (Queen Marie Antoinette, Madame Elisabeth, the Duke of Orleans and the Princess of Lamballe).
Beautiful finishes (green colored marquetry, trompe l'oeil effect on the flutings of th feet, finely chiseled ormolu bronzes). The half moon commodes are among the most refined models of Louis XVI productions. Ours is a large model, very elegant and in excellent condition.
Original marble, original bronzes with the original gilding well preserved. no crack, no accident. new varnish. Superb furniture.
