European Works of Art from the Middle Ages to the XVIIIth century
Gothic albarello with lustre vegetal motifs of large leaves alternating with fern at the bottom and parallel lines at the top, the neck being decorated with a stripe of dots.
In very good condition, with no restorations. Several chips and wear of glaze consistent with age, crack under the foot.
There is a similar albarello conserved at the National Museum of Kuwait (Al-Sabah Collection, inv. LNS 91 C), as well as two other comparable and illustrated pieces in "Spanish Pottery 1248-1898" (Anthony Ray, ill.nº 195-196).
A jar of same characteristics and proportions was sold at Sotheby's London in 2011 (Arts of the Islamic Worlds, 5/10/2011, lot 237).
