Eugène CORNU (1827-1899).
En 1858, after working as a designer for Maison Tahan, Eugène Cornu sculptor and decorator became the creator and director of the Marble and Onyx Company of Algeria A. & Co Pallu and his successor G. Viot. This house specialized in luxury items combining Algeria onyx, bronze and champlevé enamel. Cornu later became director of the company which took his name. After his death in 1875, H. Journet took the head in his house; . Cornu's designs were presented to the World Fairs of London in 1862, 1871 in 1872 and Paris in 1867 where he received a gold medal for a large pair of onyx vases, bronze and enamel. The Company of Marble and Onyx Algeria also produced objects from models by Albert Carrier-Belleuse, Charles Cordier and Louis-Alfred Barrias. The store was installed in 1878 at 24 Boulevard des Italiens, in Paris.
