The violin-shaped case surmounted by a gilt-bronze mythological figure depicting the Goddess Nyx – the Goddess of the Night.
The circular dial with twelve individual enamelled plaques with Roman numerals indicating the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes indicated by engraved brass handles.
Rich gilt-bronze ornamentation under the dial composed of a spread wings eagle defeating a snake above a radiating mask.
