The father, François MONDON was born in 1694. He became a master cabinetmaker of the law of Paris in 1737.

Installed in the shop "La Pie" in Faubourg St Antoine as almost all cabinetmakers, he made the design of the commodes his main specialty. Having begun to work at the time of the Regency style, he excels in the art of the chest of drawers in rosewood mainly inlaid in violet wood.

His success is such in the execution of the commodes that he even sells to some of his famous confreres: MIGEON buys three to him in 1743.

His son, Francois Antoine Mondon, received master in 1757, also installed in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine with his father, produces furniture of very high quality taking again the work of his father, especially commodes domes inlaid rosewood in the curve Pronounced ornamented with rich bronzes.
