Terracotta bust, portrait of a young woman, Italy, Tuscany, second half of the 18th century.
The bust, entirely hand-carved, depicts a young woman with an elaborate hairstyle who wears a medallion with the face of her beloved around her neck.
The bust comes from a noble Sienese family, and represents one of the ancestors whose name can still be read in the inscription at the base of the bust "Signiora Giulietta Bianchi". Originally, before the noble palace was put up for sale, the bust was placed together with others in the family portrait gallery.
Good condition, beautiful original patina, old restorations and small signs of age.
