Marble Garden Seat, Italy Circa 1880

An italian white marble garden bench,
Late 19th century.

The scrolled serpentine back surmounted by a winged mask, carved allover with scrolling foliage and a pair of mythological beasts bearing a coat-of-arms, over a bowed seat carved with floral festoons, flanked by a pair of caryatid supports modelled as Rams and hung with fruiting garlands.
This impressive bench is one of a near pair that has been part of an important private collection in the uk, the
companion pair is in the previous listing.
