Pair Of Louis XV Period Lanterns

Rare pair of gilded bronze lanterns from the Louis XV period.

Cylindrical in shape with five curved windows, it perfectly illustrates the elegance and refinement of the rocaille style.
Opening is via a side door discreetly integrated into the structure.

It is decorated with several garlands of berry foliage in the upper part and pine cones at the ends of the edges, typical symbols of the decorative vocabulary of this period. The lines of the edges are architecturally decorated with square scrolls and acanthus leaves and end at the lower ends with inverted pine cones, like a mirror of the upper decoration.
The windows are surrounded by gilded bronze rods with twisted movement.

Each lantern has three arms of light, beautifully crafted with elegant scrollwork acanthus leaf motifs, reinforcing the dynamism of the design.
The binets, with their animated contours, reveal particularly delicate carving work, highlighting the finely worked and struck gilded bronze.

These lanterns, mounted by electricity, are distinguished by their number and their lower window diffusing the light differently.
It is indeed rare to find pairs from the Louis XV period these days.
