Good state of conservation

The chest is the oldest storage piece of furniture. This one, made from a beautiful oak, presents a facade decorated with five panels with chamfered moldings, rounded into the frame, and joined by four crosspieces which separate them. Each element presents an orbevoie fenestration pattern, in strong relief, with tracery of speckles garnished with fleurons.

The very sober top has two side battens which facilitate its nesting.

The sides of the trunk are made up of panels decorated with napkin folds.

In the center of the facade is a beautiful wrought iron lock with its bird-shaped hasp.

The search for symmetry, both structural and decorative, seems to have dictated the creation of this chest. Imposing by the beauty of its composition and its typically Gothic ornamentation, it remains a witness to the high quality of French huchiers, who created this chest as a piece of furniture.
