Original key, with openwork cross decoration.
This ceremonial chest with a hasp lock has an elegant front and two sides richly carved with refined decoration. The central panel is split in a tripartite manner, articulated by denticulated friezes; entirely decorated with orbevoie-worked fenestrations. Pretty flowers flourish within finely carved rosettes with snuffers and lancets. The general ornamentation generously recalls that of cathedral-stained glass windows.
Made of walnut wood, it consists of four high-quality, 3 cm thick boards in one piece; assembled with dovetails. It is reinforced at the corners with wrought iron corners. The handles on the sides remind us that this chest is still a piece of travel furniture.
