A walnut panel carved with angels, grotesques and a bestiary.
Flemish, late 15th century.
Measures 162 x 29 x 3.5cm.
The left hand side of the panel is carved with a goat being attacked by a leopard amongst foliage, to the right a series of heads amongst foliage, an angel bearing a vacant armorial to the centre, flanked by columns. The right hand side of the panel is further carved with heads amongst foliage singing from a hymnal, the last relief depicts an angel riding a griffin whilst holding a Childs windmill.
Old worm and restorations to the left side of the panel with possible recarving.
