Our opinion:
In keeping with Nicolas de Largillierre's reputation, our canvas demonstrates a particular attention given to fabrics. The cape delicately placed on the noble lady's shoulders perfectly shows us this research on the textures and shine of the clothing that are worked with a knife, with innovative thicknesses for the period.
This textile work associated with the delicacy of a powdered headdress and a face with rosy cheekbones is characteristic of the workshop of Nicolas de Largillierre who was one of the greatest portrait painters of women in the 18th century.
