Henry SCHOUTEN (1857-1927) Is a Belgian animal and landscape painter.
He began his training at the Academy of Brussels in 1876 with the painter Alfred Verwée.
The latter, a precursor of the Belgian naturalist movement and open-air painter, specialized in animal painting. Henry Schouten was very influenced by him.
Above all a smooth and realistic animal painter, the artist exhibited in his hometown from 1882 with the Union des Arts. Our pair of paintings presents beautiful majestic roosters.
