Louis XVI Barometer from the 18th Century in Carved and Gilded Wood
The top of the barometer is adorned with a baldachin suspended from a decorative ribboned bow, a classic symbol of the Louis XVI era.
The upper part of the instrument incorporates a mercury column thermometer, topped with a daisy and framed by delicate pearl motifs.
The circular dial at the bottom is surrounded by a finely chiseled border, with inscriptions indicating atmospheric variations ("Très Sec", "Pluie", "Variable", etc so "Very Dry," "Rain," "Variable," etc.).
The frame is richly decorated with baskets of flowers and two cornucopias overflowing with fruits, culminating in berries and acanthus leaves.
