Pair of andirons with sphinxes, Paris Empire period

Rare pair of small finely chiseled bronze andirons gilded with mercury and black patina.
The rectangular bases decorated with rosettes and military trophies rest on claw feet.
They support sphinxes wearing Nemé hats.

Beautiful state of conservation, original irons, wear to the mercury gilding due to use.

French work from the Empire period around 1810.
