A large, beautifully executed bust of an African man with a parrot, marked by Hermann Gladenbeck (1827-1918), made in a patinated metal alloy (presumably spelter), after a model by Erdmann Encke (1843-1896).
Carl Gustav Hermann Gladenbeck (1827-1918) is the founder of one of the most famous foundries ever. He is also one of the best-known picture casters ever. He created the famous "Goldelse", better known as "Victoria", standing on top of the Victory Column in Berlin, Germany.
