17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Statue in carved and gilded wood presenting a Virgin and Child, made in the round, dating from the end of the 18th century.
Marie stands with her right knee slightly bent. She carries on her left arm the Child Jesus dressed in a long tunic, an orb in her left hand, the right hand sketching the gesture of blessing.
Slightly tilted, Marie's face evokes an almost melancholic sweetness, while the child, on the contrary, has a mischievous air, a smile on his lips, a lively look and the chubby face specific to young children.
Very pretty movement of the drapes treated with breadth and dynamically matching the posture of the Virgin.
