Chevalier exhibited at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in 1947 a rhythmic abstract canvas reminiscent of the work of his friend Albert Gleizes (1881, Paris - 1953, Avignon) or Delaunay.
He was a member of the group Témoignage.
Formed in Lyon around the poet, critic and gallery owner Marcel Michaud (1898-1958), the Témoignage group brought together artists with surrealist tendencies, strongly marked by esotericism: painters (J. Bertholle, J. Le Moal), sculptors (Etienne-Martin, F. Stahly), but also poets and musicians. Created during the Popular Front in 1936, Témoignage exhibited in Lyon, then in Paris. The exhibitions are accompanied by a magazine, Le Poids du Monde, a kind of manifesto that addresses various subjects such as dance, theatre, music, painting, sculpture and poetry. The group disbanded in 1940.
Œuvre realized in 1973/74.
