Beautiful "à la Reine" said chair with, finely carved and covered with emerald green silk. Parisian work from the Louis XV period, circa 1760. It is signed of Etienne Meunier's stamp under the belt.
Étienne Meunier was the first and certainly the most renowned of a dynasty of Parisian seat makers. His life is relatively unknown. Towards the middle of the 18th century, he officiated rue de Cléry and worked for famous merchants like Pierre Migeon and Étienne Igou. All Louis XV seats, bearing his stamp, are of very good quality. He produced armchairs, armchairs of various shapes, light and elegant, chairs with sober and well-studied lines, a large number of daybeds, but the desk armchair appears to be his great specialty.
Very beautiful model, very elegant, excellent proportions and sculptures.
Excellent condition, our seat is covered as new with this very beautiful green silk, of which we have acquired a large quantity, allowing us to offer several matching Louis XV seats in the future to form a large set.
