This large porcelain Chinese plate dates from the Ming period, Jiajing, circa 1550.
A blue and white decoration.
In the border birds and flowers, in the centre the hare with pointed ears under a tree.
The hare and moon are symbols of long life.
On the reverse, five galloping horses in circles.
This is one of the designs of Ming porcelain from the 16th century.
A similar dish is in the Topkopi Saray Museum.
