Late 18th, early 19th century French furniture and objets d'art
Pair of wall sconces in gilded and patinated bronze. The medallion features a lion's head in bas-relief, holding a gadrooned torus in its mouth. Three lights are attached, decorated with swan necks, lotus leaves and scales under the wicks. Large palmettes at the top and bottom of the medallion. Original gilding and patina.
A pair of a very similar model is in the collections of the Garde-Meuble du Mobilier National. This pair was made by Lucien-François Feuchère, carver and gilder, for the study of the Emperor's apartment at the Palais de Meudon in 1810 (reference attached in the photo gallery).
