Biography :
Born in 1958 in the Congo, Olivier De Schrijver attributes his vocation as a designer to his African childhood. Having founded his "Comme chez vous art" publishing house 33 years ago, Olivier De Schrijver has been busy "revisiting" lines from the 50s and 60s, while at the same time reinventing them in the plural recycling that characterizes the work of Belgium's greatest exponent of contemporary postmodernist design, following in the footsteps of Peter de Bruyne. Sometimes inspired by Vasarely, sometimes by Hollywood cinema, Olivier De Scrhijver humorously assumes the great divide between elitist and popular culture. His "Ode à la femme" chair, a simultaneous tribute to Art Nouveau, Scandinavian and Italian design, his own initials and, concomitantly, to women, is the designer's iconic model and a landmark creation of contemporary Belgian design.
His works are already part of the collections of the ADAM Museum in Brussels, the Royal Palace, the Palais de l'Elysée in Paris and the European Commission.
