18th century Courtesy box marquetry of flowers, birds and butterflies

Courtesy or travel box, it is composed like a cabinet, the interior of which is decorated with numerous small lidded boxes, a flap slides with in the center a folding mirror with scalloped contours, it continues inside the box the refinement that the cabinetmaker demonstrated for the exterior. The layout was intended to store jewelry and precious or collectible objects, bottles and powder boxes.

Beautiful cabinetmaking for this rare box, with a curved body alternating concave and convex shapes, inlaid with light wood on a mahogany background.

All visible sides present a luxuriant decoration of flowering branches within which birds and butterflies evolve. Bronze side handles.
