Old and Alsatian furniture and paintings
Rare and spectacular 18th century cabinet in walnut, entirely curved on its facade, topped with a gendarme hat cornice made of end grain wood. This technique originates from Switzerland and the Rhine countries and consists of placing pieces of walnut cut in the opposite direction of the grain of the walnut wood, placed end to end, in order to create a beautiful "marble" effect.
Beautiful piece of furniture with multiple functions, cabinet for the upper body with its numerous curved drawers placed on either side of a door revealing a theater, in the lower part a chest of drawers with 3 curved drawers, secretary in the middle part, of which the The flap, also curved, opens onto a layout of small drawers. Entirely inlaid with walnut, alternating curling in grained wood and reserves in veined walnut, completed by a decoration of contrasting fillets in maple and pear.
Beautiful bronze ornamentation, the drawer handles are made up of two dolphins joined together.
Original and charming piece which will find its place as a piece of furniture in a contemporary interior, but also in a collector's interior as a cabinet of curiosities.
Walnut, maple, fir frame. Switzerland, near the south of Alsace, beautiful blond patina.
