Louis XVI period chest of drawers in mahogany and mahogany veneer on an oak frame. It opens with three drawers in three rows. Fluted rounded uprights. Sainte-Anne gray marble top Stamped F.RATIE* H. 87cm - L. 96cm - D. 48cm Very good original condition Condition report and technical photographs on request. *Jean Frédéric Ratié, born in Hanover, master cabinetmaker in 1783; he moved to rue de Cotte then rue Lenoir in Faubourg Saint Antoine. In 1801, under the Directory, he moved to rue de la Cerisaie where he worked until 1819. His furniture, secretaries, trictrac tables, chests of drawers, joies-du-jour... with very sober lines, are all in the late Louis style. XVI. They are executed mainly in light mahogany. For the ornamentation and gilding, Ratié called on a certain Gérard, a metal gilder, based on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine. In 1791 he worked for the Garde Meuble de la Couronne who ordered three chests of drawers from him for the Château de Saint-Cloud.
