17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Large walnut armchair with high flat back in ''chapeau de gendarme'' from the Louis XIV period.
The four ''os de mouton'' legs are curved into a console and connected by a sinuous spacer decorated in its center with a sculpted daisy. The front legs are covered with acanthus leaves.
The armrests with recessed cuffs are nicely carved with a shell at their ends.
The width of the seat, the sinuosity of the spacer, the curve of the base, the flexibility of the armrests give this armchair a harmonious balance and a certain elegance typical of the end of the 17th century.
