Silver mounted agate casket

A silver mounted agate casket.

Indian, 18th century.

Measures 9.8 x 8.6 x 7.3cm.

The casket is set with large panels of agate within heavy silver mounts engraved with alternating flowers and flour-de-lis. The lid is set with a large, well hollowed cabochon agate panel which displays the only notable piece of damage to the corner of the agate in which it has suffered impact and cracked, the rest of the casket display general signs of expected wear and tear.
