Rare pair of light holders in finely carved, lacquered and gilded wood.
They are made up of rosettes extended by the arms of human servants who hold gilded wooden candlestick cups.
Good state of conservation, reworked with lacquer and gilding, small usual restorations.
French work from the Louis XIII period at the beginning of the 17th century.

Our opinion :
This type of "pike candle" represents the very first model of wall sconces, which is also the origin of the term "arm", used to designate the branches of the luminaries.
Placed along the corridors of the greatest castles, it was reserved for an elite of the nobility who were the only ones able to afford this luxury of lighting in the first part of the 17th century.
