The Panagija is the breast medallion of Eastern Church bishops. The pendant shows the representation of the mother of God with the divine son in the middle and should remind the wearer to be her representative and servant. The Panagiya distinguishes the bishop as a high ecclesiastical dignitary.
This panagiya shows the Virgin of Vladimir with a gilded halo with a tsata in the center. The depiction is framed by a gold brocade with river pearls and 10 semi-precious stones set in rosettes.
